There are not a lot of options for lodging in the Kamas Utah area to begin with...lucky for us we didn’t need a lot of options...we just needed the best option and found it in Woodland Farmhouse Inn. We stayed in the Cowgirl, which is a spacious apartment off the main house and it was just perfect for us.

For two nights in mid-September, we were in the old post office suite at the farmhouse. The house has so much interesting history; be sure to read the information that the innkeeper has written. Everywhere you look in the house, there are unique furnishings, all perfect for their setting! My favorite thing about the farmhouse was the array of animals roaming in the pasture just behind the house. What fun to walk down and see three personable goats, one large pig, chickens, turkeys, dogs, and cats!

I stayed in the Farmhouse itself, although there are other accommodations. The farmhouse is not new (120 years old), but was neat place to stay. The morning views of the countryside were breathtaking. Sheri is a gracious host, and prepares wonderful breakfasts in the morning of the simpler sort that I prefer. The Farmhouse is convenient to skiing nearby at Sundance, Deer Valley and Park City resort. A minor maintenance issue (dead light bulb) was quickly resolved. Great place to stay.

My husband surprised me with a quick overnight get away, and he found THIS GEM! If you are looking for a place that helps you relax and get away from the hustle and bustle, this little place is AWESOME! Sheri, the host and owner, was extremely accommodating. Everything was clean and tidy and very comfortable. While breakfast was included for our room, we chose to head a few doors down to a local favorite - the Biscuit CO. I'm a farm girl and a down home kind of gal and this place was perfect! The views are amazing.

At Woodland Farmhouse Inn, you'll find so many things to do, even when you want to do nothing! The surrounding area is perfect for hiking and fishing. Skiing is also a popular activity for tourists in the colder months. We have beautiful views, a relaxing environment, and a great place to rest. Come see us here in the mountains of Utah and experience true bliss.
In 1897, Fred Peterson contracted to have this house built for his Native American bride, Lucy. The home was constructed using squared-off rough timbers and gave warmth and security to this young family in a largely untamed setting. Lathe and plaster eventually adorned the uneven walls. Where rough timber was not used, the walls were filled with recycled sawdust for insulation.
The Petersons owned much of the property in the river bottom and also the property up on the bench and hills to the north. The land was cleared for growing grass hay and alfalfa. Much of the land was fenced and left for grazing of a large dairy herd.
The Kamas Ranger District is located nearby; 50 E. Center St. Kamas, Utah 84036. Call 435 783-4338 during office hours for more information. You can try an internet search for information by entering key word “mirror lake scenic byway” for entrance fees and more information. This site changes a lot but has lots of good information about climbing, hiking, fishing, wilderness areas etc.
